20.11.2007 - AS Nitrofert has improved the system of management

AS Nitrofert has improved the system of management to meet the requirements of international standards ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004. Along with the former main target of the manufacture of quality products for the customers, new integrated system of management aims at the reduction of harmful effect of production processes on the environment.

Implementing of the policies consistent with the integrated system is attained through implementation of new management procedures establishing the practices for the control over the environmental conditions, as well as those for collection, administration, consignment and recycling of wastes. The routine has been also established for the determination and assessment of elements and aspects of the company’s activity having an effect on the environment, i.e. the ecological aspects. Basing on the procedure developed, it was found out that significant ecological aspects are inclusive of: gas condensate formed in ammonia production and entrapped by wastewater, flue gases of the primary reformer and leakage of liquid ammonia, with the latter being of a potential hazard.

A target program is compiled to reduce the harmful effect of the company’s activity on the environment with the most important actions including: reconstruction of the primary reformer, erection of a gas condensate processing unit and erection of a new granulating tower (to upgrade the urea production process).

This December the integrated management system will be submitted for certification to the international certifying company.
