Nitrofert Joint Stock Company (Kohtla-Jarve, Estonia) was formed in December 1993 on the premises of a fertilizer business (former Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant), which initially formed a part of "Slantsekhim" Production Association, and thereafter a part of "Kiviter" Joint Stock Company. The plant, which included ammonia and urea productions, came on-stream as early as in 1969. Further on the capacities had been increased, whereas some out-of-date facilities were put out of operation (1st Ammonia Plant). Since 1979 an ammonia facility is operated, whose daily capacity is 600 MT of liquid ammonia produced by updated ENSA technology. Liquid ammonia is partially shipped to customers as salable product, with the other part processed on site into urea (there are two production lines with annual capacity of 90 thousand tons of urea each line). As by-products obtained are aqua ammonia (ammonia water) used in industry and agriculture, as well as liquid carbon dioxide (up to 10 thousand tons per year), liquid nitrogen and gaseous oxygen intended for use in industry and medicine, which are produced in co-operation with the company of AGA. |
